54% of young adults wish libraries offered more e-books
Libraries should offer more e-books, according to young Americans ages 16 to 29. This finding was revealed in a recent study by Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life. 57% of the survey's respondants feel libraries need a broader selection of digital books. 34% answered "maybe" to the idea of offering more e-books. Only 4% said libraries "should definitely not" offer more digital texts.
This survey also covered a range of issues concerning libraries. A full 87% of respondents said that libraries should coordinate more wiht local schools, 87% of the youth surveyed would like libraries to offer more free literacy programs, and 64% wish libraries offered a more comfortable environment to hang out in.
