We had the opportunity to connect directly with A. L. Waddington. Below is a discussion by the author.
"I have always been fascinated by history and had a passion for reading anything and everything that intrigued me. Throughout my youth my father, who is a noted history buff and avid reader himself, used to entertain me with lively discussionson historical events. As I got older my two loves melted together in the EVE series. The personalities of the majority of my characters are loosely based on various individuals who have touched my life in some fashion or another.
"I had a marvelous time creating the world of EVE and tweaking plausibility, science, history, psychology and the individuals in the story to construct a world in which some people inherited the ability to fall asleep on one plane of existence and awaken on another allowing them to live parallel lives. The inspiration for the creation of the EVE series was my three teenage children and their strong love for the imagination of something just a little beyond their own existence.
"I have written my manuscripts in a fashion that would hopefully appeal to this particular genre's ever-changing reality that translates into the adult world and allows them to melt into a world grounded in reality yet makes them ponder their own perception of reality. I hope everyone enjoys the characters in Essence as much as I have enjoyed creating them." —Author A. L. Waddington
