Tales2Go wins eSchool News 2013-14 Readers’ Choice Award
Tales2Go Inc., the leading provider of streaming audiobooks for the K-8 marketplace has been awarded an eSchool News 2013-14 Readers’ Choice Award. Tales2Go was selected as a top educational technology product/service that has had the greatest impact in schools, according to readers of eSchool News. Listening to audio books increases reading scores, as proficient reading is a result of listening comprehension (i.e. vocabulary and fluency) and decoding skills.
Nearly 700 readers nominated their favorite ed-tech products, based on how they are using these solutions to improve teaching, learning or school administration – and to what effect. Editors at eSchool News then chose the 40 best responses. The result is a list of ed-tech products and services that have proven to be effective in schools, as noted by educators using the products.
Tales2Go CEO William Weil comments, “We are honored to be selected as a 2013-14 Readers’ Choice Award winner. We’d like to thank the educators who wrote in on our behalf, as well as the editors of eSchool News, for this significant award. With 13 states enacting laws to hold back third graders not reading at level, almost nothing is more important than getting kids excited about and skilled at reading.” He goes on, “We’re delighted that teachers and media specialists are having success using Tales2Go in their classrooms.”
Tales2Go breaks new ground on both the delivery and business model of giving educators and students’ instant access to audio books on desktops, laptops and mobile devices. For example, with Tales2Go, thousands of students can independently listen to the same book simultaneously. And some students may want to check out the physical book from the school or public library and follow along as they listen. Tales2Go is used differently depending on the grade, but ranges from individual to group use, with and without physical books in hand.
