Where is the Harry Potter e-book?
Title: Harry Potter
Author: J. K. Rowling
Genre: middle grade
Publisher: Sony
Who is the king of kids books? (Or the “grand wizard” I should ask.) Yes, it’s Harry Potter. You can’t be a kid today without reading Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. So where are the Harry Potter e-books? Nowhere to be found.
There’s a reason for this. J.K. Rowling herself is overseeing the transformation of the book series over to the e-book platform. She personally owns the rights. She's working with Sony to bring the books to life in e-book form.
I am wishing that the delay in availability is due to the fact that Rowling and Sony are doing something fantastic to bring the e-book format to a higher level. Interactive scenes? Video? Audio? Links to supplementatal information? Games and activities? Or how about reader participation? All of that is possible in e-books. Those features would be worth the wait.
The transformation of Harry Potter to e-books is taking place through her web portal Pottermore, which was launched in the fall of 2011. The e-books were scheduled to be available in October 2011, but then sources at Pottermore announced the e-book series would be delayed till “the first half of 2012.” We’re now into the first half of the first half of 2012, should we expect an announcement or another delay?
Five years ago, JK Rowling published the last installment of the classic Harry Potter Series. One year ago, the last Harry Potter movie was made. Let’s get those e-books going!
